January 2025 Florida Holidays – escape to the Gulf Coast
January 2025 Florida Holidays
Enjoy gentle winter warmth on your Florida Holiday January 2025. Disney & Universal are peaceful in this season but many of our customers avoid them in favour of Florida’s Gulf Coast.
The coast is lovely at this time of year. Blue skies and high white clouds set off the golden sand of the Gulf of Mexico. Lunchtime temperatures average 24C – perfect for a stroll or a swim. You may need a sweater for the evening but the temperature probably won’t drop below 14C. January has the lowest rainfall of the year too.
Where would you like to stay on your January 2025 Florida Holiday? There are lots of choices in the 200 or so miles of the Interstate 75 (I-75) running North to South from New Port Richey to Naples. We can build any package – these resorts might give you some ideas.
New Port Richey
About 35 miles north of Tampa (both BA and Virgin fly direct to Tampa from Gatwick and Heathrow respectively), New Port Richey’s riverfront landscape blends nature, beaches and excellent shopping with restaurants and culture. Looking for a week or two of walking, golf and swimming? This location is ideal. Simple villas are inexpensive and come with a full kitchen, Wi-Fi, cable TV and air-con. See the original Florida mangroves at Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park – miles of cycling and hiking trails. Play golf at any of the 19 local courses. This is a peaceful coast far away from the hustle and bustle of Orlando.
Clearwater
A 30-minute drive south from New Port Richey takes you to the city of Clearwater. Clearwater Beach is a beautiful stretch of white sand lined with restaurants and hotels. There are plenty of water activities to enjoy including kayaking, jet-skiing, swimming and fishing. Sightseeing boat tours range from serene sunset cruises to exciting speedboat excursions. If you prefer to stay on the shore, the area has a wealth of shops, bars and cafes. At the end of the day, enjoy a cocktail or two while the sun dips beyond the horizon.
St. Pete Beach
A little further south from Clearwater is the barrier island resort of St. Pete Beach. Voted TripAdvisor’s No. 1 US Beach in 2021, St. Pete is definitely worth a visit. Enjoy a peaceful morning walk on the gorgeous white sands then relax on a lounger in the warm afternoon sun. It’s a great spot for people watching. There are plenty of coastal hotels and resorts – let us know your preferences or get in touch for a recommendation.
Fort Myers
Further south, on the banks of the Caloosahatchee River, is the tourist favourite Fort Myers. Famous for lovely white sand beaches, golf courses and deep-sea fishing, Fort Myers suffered substantial damage from Hurricane Ian in September 2022, but the clean-up and rebuild is well underway. A renovation of the city’s waterfront area promises new shops, restaurants and galleries. Activities include dolphin and manatee adventure tours, Everglades safaris, sunset sails and historic walking tours. There are plenty of hotels for a range of budgets.
Don’t fancy the drive to Fort Myers from Tampa or Orlando? Why not fly to Fort Myers from London with United or BA? Get in touch for our best fares. Combine a flight with car hire and accommodation for your perfect January 2025 Florida holiday.
Naples
Head south down Route 41 and you’ll come to the culture-packed seaside town of Naples. With its miles of beautiful white beaches, world-class resorts, high-end shops and fine dining, Naples is well worth a visit. Enjoy a morning stroll around the Botanical Garden – an absolute paradise for plant lovers. Feed the giraffes and take a boat ride around Monkey Island at Naples Zoo. Visit Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary to see exotic flora and fauna in a pristine wilderness.
Naples has a mix of accommodation from budget hotels to expensive beachside resorts. We can recommend an option to suit you. Contact us today for a great price on your January 2025 Florida holiday.
Miami
Head east from Naples along Route 75 (otherwise known as Alligator Alley!) for a fabulous scenic drive through the Everglades of southern Florida. The coast-to-coast route takes you all the way to the vibrant city of Miami. Founded in the mid-1800s, Miami has grown to become the second-most populous city in Florida. If you’re looking for world-class restaurants and a lively nightlife, Miami is the place for you! Take a stroll along the famous Ocean Drive, explore Little Havana and visit famous movie locations. Explore further afield with a skyline cruise, an Everglades tour or even a private helicopter tour!
British Airways fly direct to Miami from London and indirect from Manchester and Glasgow. Fares are good value at this time of year. Miami has a wealth of accommodation to choose from. Get in touch for a great price on your Florida holiday January 2025.
Key Largo
It’s well worth visiting the Florida Keys from Miami. Drive south for an hour or so and you’ll reach Key Largo. The sandy beaches are spectacular, and the waters are warm all year round. If you enjoy snorkelling, swimming and kayaking, Key Largo is an ideal destination. Don’t miss John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park – a 70 nautical square mile ecosystem of seagrass, mangroves and coral reef.
There’s plenty of accommodation to choose from – let us know your preferences on our quick enquiry form.
Key West
The drive from Key Largo to Key West is one of the most scenic you’ll ever experience. It takes a couple of hours and includes a trip over the famous Seven Mile Bridge. Key West is the perfect destination for a relaxing January 2025 Florida holiday. The seafood is outstanding – not to mention the key-lime pie.
Hotels at Key West are expensive, but we can find you a good value price. Key West has an airport, so it makes sense to fly back to the UK from here instead of driving back to Miami. Fly from Key West to London, Manchester or Edinburgh with one stop en route.
